A good sex machine is an investment — and like any piece of quality equipment, it will last years with proper care. This guide covers everything you need to know about cleaning your machine and attachments safely and effectively after every use.
Why Cleaning Matters
Beyond the obvious hygiene reasons, regular cleaning:
- Prevents material degradation on attachments (built-up residue breaks down silicone and TPE over time)
- Prevents odour absorption into porous materials
- Keeps the machine mechanism running smoothly
- Extends the life of your attachments significantly
What You'll Need
- Warm water
- Mild antibacterial soap or dedicated sex toy cleaner
- Clean microfibre cloth or paper towels
- Optional: toy storage bag or box
Avoid: bleach, alcohol-based cleaners (on silicone/TPE attachments), dishwashers, submerging any part of the machine body in water.
Step-by-Step: Cleaning the Attachment
- Remove the attachment from the drive shaft immediately after use — before the lube dries.
- Rinse under warm running water to remove the bulk of lube and bodily fluids.
- Apply a small amount of mild soap or toy cleaner and work into a lather, covering the entire surface including the vac-u-lock connector end.
- Rinse thoroughly — soap residue left on the attachment can cause irritation.
- Pat dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. Don't leave wet — moisture degrades materials over time.
- Air dry fully before storing. Even a slightly damp attachment stored in a sealed bag can grow bacteria.
Cleaning the Machine Body
The motor unit should never be submerged in water. Clean it as follows:
- Unplug the machine from the power supply first.
- Wipe down the exterior with a lightly damp cloth — just water or a tiny amount of mild soap on the cloth, not applied directly.
- Pay attention to the drive shaft area where lube can accumulate.
- Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth before plugging back in or storing.
Cleaning the Speed Controller
The speed dial/controller box should be wiped down with a dry or very lightly damp cloth only. Never get water near the dial mechanism or power connectors.
Storage Tips
- Store attachments separately from the machine — ideally in individual fabric pouches to prevent them touching and potentially reacting with each other.
- Avoid storing in direct sunlight or very warm environments (like a car in summer) — heat degrades TPE and silicone.
- Don't store attachments compressed or bent — this can cause permanent deformation over time.
- A dedicated drawer or storage box keeps everything together and dust-free.
How Often Should You Clean?
After every single use, no exceptions. Waiting until "next time" means dried lube and bacteria that are harder to remove and more likely to cause irritation.
Additionally, give the machine a light wipe-down monthly even if unused — dust accumulation around the motor area is worth keeping on top of.
Maintenance: Keeping the Machine Running
The Immerse Creations machines are designed for long-term reliability with minimal maintenance, but a few habits will extend the lifespan significantly:
- Don't run at maximum speed continuously for extended periods — give the motor a break on very long sessions by dialling back periodically.
- Check the attachment is firmly seated before every use — a loose attachment creates unnecessary strain on the shaft.
- Store unplugged — don't leave the machine plugged in when not in use.
- Listen to the motor — any unusual grinding or high-pitched whine is worth investigating. Stop use and contact us if the motor sounds different from normal.
